Evered Poole, who during his height of his military and diplomatic careers served as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the South African Army and South African Ambassador to Greece respectively.  During his posting as General Officer Administration of all South African troops in the Allied Central Mediterranean Force.

Insciption reads: “Major General W.H Evered Poole, CB, CBE, DSO / Assist. Chief of Gen. Staff / Pretoria / With the Compliments of the Author / G.T. Hurst / Hon. Colonel Natal Mounted Rifles / Durban November 1947”

Condition:Cloth hardcover in poor condition. Scuff marks around the edges of the cover and top and bottom of the spine, and a portion of the spine missing. Inscription from the author to Maj. Gen Poole on the inside of the cover. Foxing on the end-papers and foxing throughout, otherwise internally in good condition – very clean and tightly bound.
